IMRaD

There are many differences between the IMRaD papers, and the typical argumentative papers that we have been writing about.
The whole layout is completely different between the two papers. In an argumentative there is the introduction with a thesis, the body paragraphs and the conclusion. The IMRaD has a title first. Next comes the abstract, which sums up the entire paper. Then the introduction which is very similar to the argumentative because it says why you are writing the paper. After comes the Methods, which is vastly different than the body paragraphs, in this you explain what you do. Results, what ended up happening. Finally, discussion which is sort of like the conclusion, describing what all your findings mean.
Another difference is that argumentative essays argue information. You are "reporting the results of experiments". On the flip side is the IMRaD paper. Here you look at the entire report as a whole. Along with this you are displaying your own data as supposed to backing up what you read through in text citations.
